The problem right now is that U.S. Citizens don't feel enough anxiety and dismay. We're approaching Economic Armageddon, not just another recession.

Our manufacturing base is nearly gone. We've operated for a decade or more as a population of consumers. Our chief value as citizens is that we buy things. We buy things on credit. All of a sudden, no more credit.

I don't see enough fear.

Fit to be Veep? I don't think she's fit to be Mayor.

NYT has some facts.

This Sara Palin for Veep just horrifies me. When I was driving into work the morning she was announced as a running mate my jaw dropped, I though “No fucking way… Is McCain insane? can his advisors really think the voting public is this stupid?” (Was that a rhetorical trick question?).
I could not believe that she could be perceived as a viable choice. That anyone would, A.) want eight more years... B.) A bookburning creationist hocky mom... C.) The catacombs of Rome load of skeletons in her closet to go public… But it would seem this is what America wants.
I realize that we get the kind of government we deserve in America, I am horrified, horrified…. it’s the most brutal form of natural selection at work.
This crap about being proud of her son? He has joined the military avoid going to jail for vandalism, this isn’t patriotism, It is avoidance patriotized. The lad's a nutbar. She’s a book burner! I realize this is old news here on the WGB, but this weekend has had me looking across the table to my friends dumbfounded as Sara Palin effectively courts the Idiocracy and gains some speed. Oh hell, hell, hell.

Minx- I just sigh* I am just dumbfounded realy. the troopergate has some support staewide beacus the troooper what brutalising his wifge and son, tassering (sp) the works. Alaska has a lot of domestic violence and the guy was off the charts as a brute, however it is the backdoor double dealing that has me squirming.
She has that same sort of political bullying style Ted Stevens always used, You get a black hand print on your door if you disagree with this admin. The artical you linked to was keeping things civil, It's a ginsu knife comecial up here, "But wait! there's More!" (scandle that is). Bourogh Mayor Joe Williams from our town apparently "Laid hands upon her" in prayer this month up in the capitol. Lots and lots O' prayer going on in the Capitol. In the same breath at the Chamber of Commerce meeting he is quoted as saying "We do not want to be on the wrong side of this woman, she is a dangerous enemy." But; one that he has laid hands upon...
Church and State, Church and State.

Ah Boog... I was getting so hopeful for a while. Things have such a "Big Brother is watching You "Vibe these days.
[Kilkeny quote]
"Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a "fiscal conservative." During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren't enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million."[Kilkenny quote]
Fiscal responsability?

Fucked is zacktly what we is.

It makes perfect sense now.

Why does it seem like John McCain and Sarah Palin don't 'get it' as they offer less jobs, health care, education, and more war and trillions more debt to the future? Because they hope the future never comes at all.

They're stuck. Iraq is a mega-fail. The Middle East has the stranglehold. Their mortgage heists are going up in smoke. China is grinning, waiting to pull the plug on their 20th century. They can see the future coming home to roost like a fleet of Rebel Starships made of solar panels, windmill thrusters, and a people united, focused, and determined. So what are they going to do? They're going to borrow China, India, Eurupe, the rest of the world into fiscal non-existence, then vanish the United States of America and all its supergiant-debt down a Large Hadron Singularity before it goes supernova.

There will be no Black America, no White America, no Red America, no Blue America.

No America.

Not even a Spook Country.

Just The Brotherhood of The Nameless Men of Many Houses.

Fuck'em with pineapples.

Michael Seitzman nails it

quote:
She said "nucular." Twice.

I realized three things tonight. For one, if you are a McCain/Palin/Bush voter, you and I do not have a difference of opinion. We have a difference in brain power.

...and

quote:
Now, I want to be clear and speak directly to those of you who LOVED that Palin interview. You're an idiot. I mean that. This is not one of those cases where we're going to agree to disagree. This isn't one of those situations where we debate it passionately and then walk away thinking that the other guy is wrong but argued well. I'm not going to think of you as a thoughtful but misguided person with different ideas who still really cares about the country and the world. No, sorry, not this time. This time, if you watched those interview excerpts and weren't scared out of your freakin' mind, then you're mentally ill, mentally disabled, or mentally disturbed. What you are NOT is responsible, informed, curious, thoughtful, mature, educated, empathetic, or remotely serious. I mean it.

Feh! If she's so pro-gun how come she has her finger inside the trigger guard when she's clearly not in firing position? Training weapon or not. Magazine or not.

Sarah Palin: Pro-gun, anti-gun safety.

Like our current vice president, you probably don't want to go hunting with her.
