I like his laid back nature. I also like that he seems to be able to get people to want to work with him rather than just stir up anger the way Hillary and W seem to do.

Also very frankly I like his experience in Washington. Enough to know his way around but I think having more real world experience outside politics is valuable.

I am, and I don't even get to vote. Just hearing someone in US politics talk about poverty and society's obligations toward the individual is incredibly refreshing and encouraging.

Well, I am hopeful we can get on with repairing our nation under this man, while fearing for his life.

I listened to KUOW's Speakers Forum [Seattle] tonight and heard Robert Kennedy speeches held in my town back when I was almost oblivious and busy with rock n roll bullshit. He made me cry for this country.

His speech on the possibilities of uniting all of us, from the poor to the wealthy and how we might make a major change for all, here and elsewhere, broke me heart. It's the same thrust I tried with my Repub Uncle. Mine was just a wail at how we were not living up to our potential. RFK was actively inviting college students and the businessmen to engage and collaborate for the betterment of possibly all.

What a waste of a good mind. And father, and husband.

I became old enough to vote just before the 2000 election and I voted for the Green Party then and in 2004.
This is the first year I am actually "excited" by ANY mainstream candidate (Republican or Democrat) and I hope from the bottom of my heart that Obama is our county's next president!

I'm not. It'll all really be more of the same, except I'll probably get taxed more. I'm by no means wealthy, live in a crappy house etc, but when the talk of raising taxes comes up, it's me they're coming for. I think the girl who cuts my hair lives better than me, ski boat, jet ski's. I don't have that stuff.

I think a blowout is a possibility (one I hope for) but don't forget McCain will have a running mate, and if he and the machine have any brains at all, they'll pick someone who can string a few words together and tell a joke now and then. So the contrast between the tickets isn't likely to be as stark as it seems right now.

I guess I'm excited for the 08 Prez Race to be over so I can stop having to read about it but I can find nothing unusual about Barackie-O to make me "excited".

EDIT: Ok, I'm also kinda excited that somebody might dig in to those few remaining GWB era presidential records and slop the interesting bits about in public, and I figure there's a better chance Oh-B will do that than will McCaine, tho I suspect he (Obama) will be muzzled and prevented\"discouraged" from doing that.

Really I just haven't seen much to me that indicates Obama has the guts\meanness for the job he's applying for. His resume seems lacking in those areas. I expect he'll spend his 4 years jerking around like a fish on a line and getting Jimmy-Cartered for something or other when it's time to left him off the hook and back in to civilian life.
