I'm not sure I understand your answer Boogerhead. I think you are suggesting that they are both evil by being part of the same larger American political system but I feel that since they are REAL people, by definition their administrations will be different and therefore preferable (or not) to specific countries and leaders.

I was just insinuating that if we, the USA actually wanted trustworthy leaders, we'd have an entirely different vetting process. The one we use is only able to select the greediest, loudest, most pandering bastards out there. Someday we'll have a Solar Lottery ...

Looked at from one direction, Obama is young, charismatic and African-American, refreshing qualities in a presidential candidate. Looked at from the other side, he's yet another Ivy League lawyer, of whom we've had more than a few already.

I suppose each coin has two sides, but if we've never seen the other side, how do we know what it looks like?

The vetting process, the Ive league of lawyers, these are what they are. But you and I and we are also part of the zeitgeist. Our enthusiasm and optimism is also influential. But it takes balls to put aside our affectations of skeptical pessimism and dilettante cynicism (dilettante? does any one here sleep in a dog kennel? next case...) and let ourselves feel hope simply because it's good for you and me and us. It's hard to rehumble ourselves intellectually and remember that, for all the poli-sci we've studied and all the research on current events and history we've endured, we really haven;t a clue. We're phototropic plants. We turn toward the brightest light. Obama's pretty bright right now. Enjoy.
