I think it's great that Madonna is wearing "Age-appropriate" underwear in her "4 minutes" video with Justin Timberlake.

It's classic shapewear (formerly called foundation undergarments) in flesh tones.

The kind of stuff that 50-year old women have been wearing under their clothes for ages. Great to see her make it look trendy and hot!

(Perhaps I should have posted this over on the Gaiman board)

To give the male half of the species an idea of what the ladies are talking about, I have looked for some images:

Maybe it is the corset what is hot? No, not really. But it distracts from the cut and shape.

This really rings a bell, though I am sure it was more widespread than just my mother, such as bras in the 80s, or something.

Clearly I am still stuck in the past for what is current in underwear.

Thanks for finding the images, Psychophant. My searchstring skills were failing me.

Minx: "Ray of Light" and "Music" are both pretty good albums.

MADONNA: Because someone had to ruin Guy Ritchie's career.

KYLIE MINOGUE: Pretending to be British even before Madonna made it cool!

I don't think it was the 'old lady underwear' that was ever not hot. It was all the inconvenient bulges, ripples, and such, which are conspicuously absent on Madonna. Never been a fan of hers, but I have to say she's consistently been one of the hottest human beings on the planet for a really long time.

Guys have been jerking off to the women's lingerie pictures in mail order catalogues as long as they (the catalogues) have existed!

I think Madonna really shows her age in those pictures, but it only serves to emphasize that she is still hot, but in an older way. One might think this was even intentional. It certainly fits in with my impression of her personality.

I assume it was intentional. Perhaps even her comment to the Britney Spears MTV live appearance.

That XX-year old mothers are still sexual creatures and they can prance around in their underwear as they see fit.

Remember people, this is a 40 50 year old mother we are talking about! ...

heya, here's to prancing elders, in concept. This is not my personal preferred arena, ftr.

In regards to her music...I really can't recall one song. She made no blip on my aural screen.

She gave birth to 2 children by C-section. Don't even try to think that having a C-section is an *easy* way to give birth. Having given birth both vaginally and by C-section, I know.

And believe me it only takes one pregnancy to make irreversible changes to your body if you are genetically disposed.

Madonna looks great. If I really worked out a lot for the next 10 years, I'd be proud if I were able to achieve a body like hers. (Waiting for my latest swim training gear to arrive and breaks out the Ab-swinger!)

I find her hot, no doubt, but I prefer a lot more the second set, a much natural move, than the first one.

Ot maybe because the second taps into good memories, while the second is the kind of thing that does not happen to me.

Madonna's first album was great fun. Like Annette Funicello after hours on Sunset Strip circa 1965.
Beyond that, her music bored me and she became this... thing. Madonna the Icon of Celebrity: M=IC2.

Nothing wrong with that, mind you. It's kind of cool. But in a way that doesn't touch me at all, except the part where she flashes cleavage.
The part where she sings... meh.

I'm not a listener to her stuff, but I know it well enough to admire her talent for bricolage and reinvention, and for staying relevant and in the news over a long period.

She's an extremely astute businesswoman and manipulator of media.

yes, she has a talent for staying relevant. A comfortingly familiar, brilliant star in the heavens of pop music.

eh, maybe not so comforting. She's another reminder that the years are whipping by.

Second everything positive mentioned but she does have an unsavory personality. Probably has to do with losing her mom at 5.
