Fervor. You sense fervor. Not religion. Fervor is often religious, but it doesn't have to be. It can be had for shopping, or sex, or even atheism. But that doesn't make atheism a religion. If it was a religion, then it wouldn't be atheism.

Here I go with the language again.

I don't understand having fervor over (for? grammar???) something that doesn't exist. There should be no fervor.

Atheism shouldn't be a 'thing' it should be an absence of a 'thing'.

You must agree that there are some people that take atheism to a religious level. The Christmas example is one I like. One the Christians like to victimize themselves with too, when borderline-zealot atheists go around trying to remove all of Christmas from well, everywhere.

C'mon. Chill a bit. Shit like that is just so they can stir the pot up. There is no logic to just pissing off a bunch of people for no reason. And Christians have some ingrained programming that makes them always believe that they are being persecuted and the response to persecution is to unite and dig the fuck in. Makes things worse for everybody I think...

Am I making a shred of sense?

I'm only recently this aggressive. I kinda like it. I've always been an asshole, now I've got a reason. Aggressiveness makes them say stupid shit like, "Come on! Let us pretend we believe in bronze-age lies!"

But no. I'll not be friendly with religion. I have three offspring. I want them to have a civilization to live in.

And how have I been aggressive, anyway?

With facts?

seven-seven is kinda new here.

Doesn't understand that I'd prefer Asshole Atheist over Religious Atheist.

One has the advantage of being true.

Didn't take it so. It's just a bad example. If our government stops governing with respect to their religious faith, and in fact denounces religion as the harmful, man-made creation it is, I'm fine with Christmas. Shit, I'm fine with Halloween!

I'm fine with "In God We Trust" being on our money and all that, too.

I'm presently fine with "One nation under God" being in the Pledge of Allegiance, because if nothing else, it is accurate.

seven-seven, a lot of atheists don't like the word "atheist". Sam Harris doesn't.

But he doesn't get upset when he's called an atheist and even says stuff like, "we atheists".

We're aware of the inconsistencies with the word.

I know little of Budhism. But there is more to it than nothing. Because isn't the pursuit of 'nothing' a belief, that has a purpose or something?

Trogdor: Actively mocking Christians is counter productive if your goal is to reduce the amount of Christian influence in the world. They feed off that and are united by it. Their programming is quite sophisticated. You must be familiar with the abused spouse analogy?

Edit: The Force has that mitochlo...something count now.

In the course of interviewing people over the years, I occasionally had to pretend to be a religious pedophile in order to gain rapport with subjects. Pretending to be an atheist pedophile never would have been advantageous. Never came across an atheist pedophile. Make of that what you will.

Don't think I've ever talked to an atheist murderer, either. Maybe one guy. I do not recall religion coming up with him, so maybe he was one of us. Hard to tell.

Yeah but their children don't feed off that and are not united by it. Christians 20 years from now will have to live in a society where they're not just a minority, but a fairly small minority.

Regardless, I'm through acting like they're talking about reality. Just can't do it anymore. Their ideas regarding the universe ARE NOT as good as mine. I'm through saying otherwise, just to be polite.

I cherish the rich irony of Christmas. I'll never let them put an end to a festival of shopping celebrated around a pagan-inspired tree at a time of year chosen to coincide with a popular pagan festival in ancient Rome.

Also, Christianity's not all bad. Their god is on a stick. Like a corn dog. Who doesn't like corn dogs?

Now see? That would make a hell of a book. You're already a great writer (great at writing). When you retire... write a book. Fuck fiction.

I'm lucky I caught the Force joke...

I think there should be a separation between anti-religious and atheist. To give people who still want to cling to the 'great mystery' something to hang onto while eroding the religious 'systems'. People want to be special. Maybe move them to the 'spiritual but not religious' definition first. Show them that religion is a control tool and horrible, but let them cling to a supernatural specialness. (but not in a weird hippy way hopefully.)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I remember how this all started now. I said that President Obama himself said he was governing in a certain way, because of his faith. You gotta admit that's an unsupportable thing for a President to say. Not that I'll push it, but I think it is grounds for impeachment. Nothing else Obama has said or done (to my knowledge) is. I think that is.
