By the way, does the provisional AFCyber logo remind anyone else of the MJ12 logo from Deus Ex?

Seriously though, I’m not sure it’s appropriate to be criticizing the advertising strategies employed by our brave men and women in a time of war. It is absolutely vital that we not tie the Air Force’s hands by restricting advertising techniques to those listed in the Army’s “Army Strong” campaign. Just by having this discussion, we are emboldening the Decepticons who are even now seeking an All-Spark capacity to use against American citizens. You’re not pro-Decepticon, are you?

I'm sorry.

I'll immediately cross into the blue by way of apology. [snickers uncontrollably]

If the sign signifier relationship isn't honored then the post-structuralists have already won.

Among American university students,* there is a practice known as "shaming." When an individual (often, but not exclusively male) falls asleep with their shoes on, their associates are given license to write on their body with Sharpies, shave their hair in unusual ways, or engage in similar shenanigans. When this happens to a government agency, it looks like this: "What am I gonna do in a submarine?!"

*and possibly elsewhere as well. I don't know how widespread the practice is.

Dammit, trying to find the Australian Army comic-style recruitment ads that were banned because the character in them was a "poor representation of the average woman" or something like that - in the same was Lara Croft is a poor representation of the average woman.

Ah, here we go. And here as well.

"In its first week of testing, 450 soldiers indicated a preference to sign-up to a trade transfer, compared with 35 the week before,"

God forbid the ADF have anything that works.

Can't say the bunnies 'n beans do it for me.
