Wrong ... all worng.

They parse the commands that are sent to the throat, what they should do is building an interface and analyze the signals comming from the brain. If so ... cyberspace here we come.

What shall I think about it?
Actually not much ... Technologie is part of evolution ... so if an brain-machine Interface is part of the evolution, there is nothing you can do about it ... trying to stop it, usually makes it come a bit later, but with bigger impact.

I prefer a smooth evolution ... brain-I/O a strange thing to think about? Well we will get used to it ... what would people a 1000 years ago would have thought about man flying in the sky or walking on the moon?

However ... unfortunatly, I and I guess most of us are born to early to see the Impacts of these revolution ... and your grand grand grand children will be used to live with it.

Never forget, the human strenght is the capability to adapt to compleatly new live situation.

About the Gibson aspact ... when I read Neuromancer, I was 100% sure that this 'will' come one day ... the only question was: 'when?'

I and I remember a time when i had to get directions to a place before I left my house, had to plan out in advance where to meet up with my people, withdrawl money from the bank well before saturday night and if I had a flat, ran out of gas or broke down on the way, I and I had to walk to the nearest telephone to get help, while the people I was meeting hung around and wondered what happened to me. Some of the younger heds in the room probably dont even realize how much daily life has changed since the ATM, and the cell phone.

we used to have to plan things out, carry enough cash for the weekend, be willing to walk abit, be willing to wait.

so things change, as things change some things get better some things get worse.

Nowadays, I get raped for a buck fifty by the bank for the priviledge of getting my money doled out to me as needed when i used to be able to figure how much i needed for long periods of time (long periods like... a week). Ive forgotten every phone number memorized by my cell phone, and im a dick if dont answer it on the days i feel like blowing everyone off and flying solo. I'll now sit on the side of the road and wait for someone to do something i could do for myself when i was a teenager.

rambling now i know, but can you imgine in a few decades, when someone is waxing about how, if they wanted to post on a 'message board' they actually had to type... like, with their fingers?

oh yeah, and when i was a teenager, i had to deal with drummers if i wanted to make music, thank you mr. sampler machine, for allowing me to be creative without having to deal with the most disturbed group of musicians in the world.
