It's not quite time to break out the 'the sky is black with chickens coming home to roost' quote, but it might be getting close.

OTOH, it doesn't exactly undo any damage that his
crimes may have caused. Perhaps he's taking one
for the team.

indicted but not yet convicted, a rather tricky task to accomplish, since delay is slicker than a duck's ass, altho not quite as pleasant...

Attorneys for the congressman said he has met with Earle, cooperated with the investigation and even waived the three-year statute of limitations that ran out Sept. 13, three years after TRMPAC's check to the national Republican group.
Now there's a gentleman who'd like a do-over.

The problem here is this particular indictment probably looks like obscure trivia to the average punter. But it does give journalists a nice segue into - well - all the other stuff.

Upon which they'll no doubt immediately jump. I'm sorry, was I being sarcastic again?

It doesn't really matter either way. He'll end up getting pardoned just like Clinton did with Mark Rich.

Here's a curious thing. The statue of limitations has run out on this indictment. And on August 17th of this year, at the advice of his attorney, DeLay waived that statue of limitation. Why would he do that? I have suggestions, but I don't want to frontload the question.

Oh, look, a visitor from the future.

Think you'll find those scandals are ongoing, Twofer. In fact, Frist's time in the fire's only just begun.

This'll be awfully difficult to prove. Especially since it went down in texas.

Wish I could rant like this:
You poor, hollow, blood-painted clowns. Cheering the trials and failures of your country with the same pennants and giant foam hands that you wave at your favorite sports teams. Willing to accept the most outrageous of lies, if they are spoken from your favorite talking heads, and soothe your own notions of America for you, and only for you.

And as for the audacity of Democrats speaking up during this process... the redfaced, flatulent fury with which you declare Republicans off-limits to that which you so gleefully hurl yourself...

Welcome to the world of the politics of personal destruction, you tubthumping, chin-jutting, Bush humping gits. Welcome to the nasty and partisan world that Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Hugh Hewitt, Grover Norquist, Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, and a legion of insignificant lowest-rung toadies like yourselves nurtured into fruition daily with eager, grubby hands, and now look upon with dull-faced faux horror.

The Movie: Ronnie Earle, on a Mission from God

A new film featuring Travis County, Texas prosecutor Ronnie Earle as he pursued the investigation that led to the indictment of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay portrays Earle less as a partisan figure than as a messianic leader on a mission to rid American politics of the "evil" influence of money.

A copy of the still-unfinished film, entitled The Big Buy, was obtained by National Review Online Friday.

On several occasions in the film, Earle engages in monologues on what he believes is the sinister effect of money in politics. "The root of the evil of the corporate and large-monied interest domination of politics is money," Earle says as he takes the filmmakers on a nighttime drive around Austin. "This is in the Bible. This isn't rocket science. The root of all evil truly is money, especially in politics. People talk about how money is the mother's milk of politics. Well, it's the devil's brew. And what we've got to do, we've got to turn off the tap."..............

Go away L.A.L.

Incidentally, one of Virginia's most racist and "promising" politicos was kind of enough to run an ad inset with the article. It's hard to watch a race-baiting scumbag maneouver his way to greater power with each year.

Sen. Robert Byrd, ex-Klansman

EX-KLANSMAN Robert Byrd, the senior senator from West Virginia, casually used the phrase "white nigger" twice on national TV this weekend. Enraged civil rights groups organized a protest campaign against Sen. Byrd and demanded that he undergo sensitivity training ... not. The ex-Klansman, you see, is a Democrat. Democrats can join hate groups and utter the ugliest racial slurs and get away with it because they are Democrats. They belong to the party of racial tolerance and understanding. They're paragons of virtue, and the rest of us are bigoted rubes.

The ex-Klansman showed his true colors when asked by Fox News Sunday morning talk show host Tony Snow about the state of race relations in America. Sen. Byrd warned: "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."........
