I think this add was pulled very quickly, i didn't see it. I was overall rather impressed with the eurostar campaign actually, the concept was well worked out.

Well... After 174 days of the different parties trying to form a new goverment, the formateur (the dude leading the formation negotiation, which is the dude who had the most votes and so also in theory the next prime minister) has finally given up. No goverment, and not even the faintest clue as to how to proceed. So, we're actually worse off now than before they started. Hoo-fucking-ray. If i ever run into one of those politicians, i'll kick em in the nads for displaying such stupendous amount of incompetence.

You never told me who is running the day-to-day operations. Like the mail, does it get delivered? And public transportation, does that run?

The old government is still partially working. However, they do not have access to the budgets of the next government and they can't make any new regulations, so that basicly means all they can do is monitor whatever projects they had running. All public services are still up and running. You think if that would stop, the people would allow those dickheads to pussyfoot arround for half a year? One of my mayor gripes is that during that 6 month period (which if things progress as they have up until now might easely extend up to a period of 8 or 9 months), we are still paying taxes (and VAT and all that crap). But the old goverment isn't allowed to use it, and there isn't a new government to use it either. Which means that all that money is just sort of sitting there, gathering interest. So as a reward for not doing their jobs for 6 (or whatever it ends up being) months, the new government will get a extra big wad of money. And that i find is extremely offensive.

Also, these politicians should not be getting their paycheck and benefits. If that was the case, I suspect an agreement on how to proceed would be found very quickly.

Yes, but then you'd end up with Belgium under the rule of Darth Vader in a funny hat.

No, the Emperor was. I'm saying he'd appoint Darth the King of Belgia. Or something. Maybe I was stoned.

We have a government! Well, sort off anyway. A short term interim government is in the making. It should be fully formed and functional by christmas, and will deal with a number of urgent cases. It will also smooth the way for a new full government, which (according to current statements) will have to be operational by mid march.
