Bath salts Addicted to a common bathing product is the oddest thing I have heard in a while but apparently there is some truth to it. I do look askance at the advertisements for rehab clinics at the top. Seems kinda predatory to me. Look here, its a new thing to get twisted on and if it causes a problem were are here!

I think there's a case to be made for letting Darwinism run it's course...

Is this like whip cream canister and paint huffing - where someone figured out you could get high on a product that has a legit consumer use?

or is this like the "asthma relief" and "incense" that is really just druuuugs parading as something else to avoid regulation?

I'd guinnea pig it for everyone and report back but I'm getting to old for that kind of thing.

I tried JWH-18 on it's own years before you could get spice in stores.

I didn't like it then, I dont like spice now. It's pretty inferior to cannabis in every way. If you like cannabis, just move to where its legal.

Really need to start an internet meme that licking dog butts will get you high, then sit back and wait for the YouTubery to begin!

South Park did a bit a while ago, on how 'cheesing' cat piss made you trip out in a boob-filled, Heavy Metal-inspired world.

Nice guy. Loser.

yeah and in when I was in highschool everyone said that you could dry out toothpaste and smoke it like crack - but back then LSD was real cheap and easy to come by and I've not ever had a problem getting cannabis so I didn't really ever bother trying all those clever ways to get to high on household chemicals.:+

“People thought: ‘How bad could it be? It’s called bath salts,’ ” Chief Deputy Troy Morton from the Penobscot Country Sheriff’s Department in Maine adds to the Monitor. “Once it got here and people learned about it, it took off like fire because it was legal, and it was extremely cheap.”

"The street finds its own use for personal hygiene products"

A friend of mine in the States is an ER nurse. I mentioned this to her. She wrote that behind meth, bath salts are the reason for crazies being carted in. "We just wrap them up tightly so they can't harm anyone or themselves, and send them off to Neurology when they come in."

They aren't actually bath salts: the Wikipedia article describes them as drugs designed to mimic the effect of prohibited drugs by using molecules which are not prohibited.

I.e., these people aren't actually snorting, e.g., magnesium sulfate. Well, maybe some are, but those are probably the same people who would try licking toads or huffing jenkim.

Yes, except these seem to be trying to mimic stimulants like coke or meth, not MJ.

You say that like it's a joke. Hey, don't knock it 'til you've tried it, man. There's some killer Husky butt around here, man, and some primo Irish Setter.

As Xeno pointed out they aren't bath salts. They are just called that because you can't label your product "synthetic, legal meth" and get away with it.

Years ago, and this may have just been in Florida, convenience stores sold these tiny little fake flowers. Roses mostly, they were about 3 inches long and as a kid I wondered who would buy a tiny flower and what would you do with it. I failed to notice the flower was packaged in a small glass tube which, we discovered from the news, was the perfect size and shape to use as a crack pipe.

Whoa, really? Next thing you'll be telling me that those big glass water pipes I see in stores aren't actually used for tobacco.

It's not only just in Florida. At least "concealed crack pipes at convenience stores": I remember a local cop stating that convenience stores around here will do that sometimes. Dunno if they "package" it the same way. Actually, it may have been that, according to him, they were "concealed" as cheap pens with transparent bodies, and you could easily take the pen apart and use the tube as a pipe. IIRC. I haven't actually noticed this, but I don't actually spend much time visiting convenience stores/gas stations (particularly when I don't drive).

Make cigarettes illegal, say, and people found a way to keep smoking. The Lucky Dragon wasn't allowed to sell rolling papers, but they did a brisk trade in Mexican hair-curler papers that worked just as well. The most popular brand was called Biggerhair, and Rydell wondered if anyone had ever actually used any to curl their hair. And how did you curl your hair with little rectangles of tissue paper anyway?

Depressing story from last year about Russian junkies, unable to afford heroin, turning to a drug named "krokodil". Somewhat gross descriptions of the drug's effect, squeamish people beware.
