Never underestimate the stupidity of the Idle Rich.

Of course, what'll be hilarious, is when the same flaws built into every copy of each dog causes 'em to all die off simultaneously.

Re: clones:

I can foresee some thousands of Jasper Fforde readers wanting dodos and to name them either Pickwick or Alan.

James Bond Didn't Kill Diana

I must confess that I'm surprised that this investigation has taken this path. Did anyone really think Mi6 planned this? The problem with most conspiracy theories, or at least theorists, is the assumption that some group was capable of pulling off some huge task, but not capable of keeping the theorist from finding out.

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet:
Judge puts kaibosh on Wikileaks

I expected that this would happen sooner or later, given that the site's purpose was to allow people to publish classified material and trade secrets. Can't say I'm terribly saddened by it. The fact that they allow their users anonymity completely undermines their stated purpose.

The legality of that seems tenuous at best. I bet it'll be back up somewhere...

I think information being freely available will help the world in the long run. Keeping secrets only helps people anecdotally, not pervasively, in my opinion.

Secrets protect the few, mostly, and often at the expense of the many.

It's OK, they're literary prodigies. I;m not jealous, That kind of talent deserves recognition.

What find curious about celebrity books in general is that people buy them. The world of celebrity is by its nature a sound-byte world, a n attention span condenser, a blip on the radar of one's day.

Who is reading these books? Who is buying them? Who wants the information contained in them that they can already get for free after the book comes out and all the juicy bits are spoken of.

In this case, who wants to know what the Olsen's think about fashion? They aren't John Paul Gaultier, so who cares?

I get tabloids, I get tabloid TV, I get TMZ, I get E!, but I don't get people acquiring a whole book about one of these people. It refutes most of what I think I know about the subject.

I don't get the Olsen twin interest. They were on a crap show at a young age. I've only seen clips, but it's not like they were precocious thespian. They are maybe a half notch above Paris Hilton, if that. They did make me dislike Lance Armstrong though. WTC was he thinking?
