The official Indiana Jones Thread for the WGB.
Let's start with the trailer. If you aren't a fan of Indiana Jones you suck as a human being. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

Looks like he's swinging around the warehouse going after the Ark in the trailer. The Indy site has a screensaver with a box on it that says Property of Dr. Jone 9906573, the number of the box the Ark was put in. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

And from various bits and pieces I've read online, it looks like the warehouse is in some air base in New Mexico. Apparently the staff there were experienced in cover-ups and hiding things... Best, Chris H |

Yeah, it's in Area 51. Where the aliens are. The movie has aliens, I hear. One of the covers for the Dark Horse adaptation got posted and the crystal skull in said cover is clearly that of a 'gray.' Those are the aliens popularized by Whitley Strieber in the 1980's book Communion. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

I'm definitely excited-to say the least-about getting to see KOTCS, but am pretty bummed out about how long it will probably be before I get to see it and even more so that I'll totally miss seeing it in theaters.
The trailer definitely piqued my interest, but it's sort of strange to see CGI so prevalent in an IJ film. I suppose it was inevitable. |

It wasn't inevitable, Spielberg could have held out.
I hope George was kept in check to some extent by Harrison and Steven. Steven has said previously that there isn't a lot of CGI work, so, hopefully, it's just in the trailer that heavily. The trailer itself didn't feel put together by either Lucas or Spielberg but a marketing firm. At least the intro. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

I suppose they could have held out for an old-school take on the effects, but hopefully there are still plenty of live stunts done throughout.
I was definitely surprised to hear the "Children of Dune" score on the trailer, and not all John Williams goodness. "COD" is some great music, but it definitely felt a little out of place in an Indiana Jones trailer. Anyhow, gotta get to work. |

More reason why it's likely not done by Spielberg or Lucas. not that they would do a trailer, but you'd think they had final approval... I'm sure they did, which is distressing in part. What they should have done is said: "He discovered the great artifacts the world had ever seen..." And then have the music from when he sees the ark playing, or the map room music. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

It's also interesting to note that the European version of the trailer doesn't have the American flag and the soldiers are pointing guns at Indy and Winstone in the first wide shot of the pair.
In the American version the guns are digitally removed after the cut from the crane shot over the car. --- "I knew their tastes were very different and because the french like Dick a lot." -W.G. |

That trailer looks terrible. And CHEAP. Hope the movie is better than the trailer. WAAAAYYYY better.

Putting trailers in Adobe Flash containers is the worst trend possible, since FLV, while a nice, small format good enough for casual use, looks like *crap*.

I've had a few people tell me they consider this more a teaser then a trailer.

Okay, I went back to the site, saw the "View in HD" link. Didn't see it the first time I looked at the site.

I think that may, in fact, be an advantage. That way, if it's really good, it'll really hit you right. If you expect it to be really good, and it's middling, you'll be quite disappointed.
