I just got the word from Dozois and Datlow (founding members of the Mojo Wire). Damn. I can't believe how fast we're losing the great ones lately. But at least he didn't wait for age or disease or Alzheimer's to get him and went out instead on his own terms. That was just like him.

Personally I don't consider committing suicide while depressed going out on your own terms.

Well, there's always just hanging on, depressed, while your body grows frail and futile, waiting for death to take you out on It's terms.

Wrenching.

A true virtuoso. His unparalleled history, The Dreams Our Stuff is Made Of, gave me my signature. His books were splendid edifying feasts. Never failing to overestimate our intelligence.

One of my entrees into vintage computing was his text-adventure game, AMNESIA. Obviously the most superbly-written text adventure game ever made. I sought it solely for his involvement.

So you've sailed now to the edge. Did you find your peace at the last? Did childhood's unconditional sweetness suffuse you? Were you given back lost times? Private moments never shared? Sensations relished? Beauty beheld? Lifetime's reflections, contemplations, loves, losses, treasures, secrets? Your strand of time?

Our campfire made yet lonelier.

Read one of his Horror stories, probably The Priest, a long time ago. I don't remember much of it, but the fact that i didn't read any of his other works since then probably indicate i thought it was average.
