Avoidable deaths, less sensitive.

Not as insensitive as the dead.

There's no dick like Cheney.

Breathtaking. And not in a good way.

Oh, it wasn't tongue-in-cheek, it was deadly serious.

The comic strips tragedy of all weight, all meaning and leaves it bare. Cloaking such things in sentiment, portent and sacrifice merely enables them to continue.

I am not comfortable with mythologizing madness and slaughter.

Yep... 4000 Americans. But how many Iraqi civilians ???

Anyways I guess 25% of world oil reserves are worth 4000 lives... at least for the people who will profit with that.

The system that generates this type of liar, this type of "killer by proxy" is obviously borked beyond repair.

Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

It just needs to stop. One way or the other. Either we abandon the idea of a centralized government, or we'll be forced to.

There are other ways, but it will require people get off their asses, destroy their cars, grow a garden, kill their food and take responsibility for their own fucking lives and actions.

Until this happens, things will only get worse.

Much worse.

As far as I'm concerned, I prefer silent vice to ostentatious virtue.

They really do that over there, Boog? Recruiters start harassing people and walking down the street to get kids off the footpath to sign up?

Yup. Most of the street stuff is done either right by a recruiting office, or around schools or malls where recruiters will sometimes set up tables and work the crowd. It's not something you see terribly often, but it is one of the things they try.

Record consumption equals record profits. Record high base material prices equals record high net prices simply by maintaining the same per centile markups.

I'm no fan of Big Oil or fat cat execs, nossir, but they're beating a dead horse. We done this to ourselves -- as you;ve often intimated, boog.

Aphids have little to complain about when they've sucked their host plant dry.

$4 a gallon? My heart bleeds... For the good of the planet that price needs to double.
