I voted for german... I like that language a lot and for some very weird reason love the sound of it. Maybe cause it's the only other language I had classes in (besides english), but never really managed to maintain and expand. I had no cultural input in it alas.
Yeah, German's good. It where we stole a lotta English from.
Today, I was talking to my German mate at uni, telling her how I lost my timetable, even though I'd been determined not to, and she says in her kickarse German accent:
I had german classes from somebody who always spoke in a bit of a harsh way, you know chopping of his words very sharply. 'cause of that i always think of german as a bit of a harsh language even though it isn't. Aside from that though, german accents aren't anywhere near as cute as a nice southern accent (spanish, greek, italian).

Great.
that logic was being used to deny the holocaust on the radio yesterday - obviously there wasn't a concerted effort to wipe out the jews, because the germans are efficient and there would be no jews left if that was the case. i had to laugh. bloody stupidity.
anyway, avoiding a jacking. from your list i would probably say spanish, since it is so widespread. personally i did french in school. french and german were the only options. well that and latin... my french however is not something i would boast about. but i just started learning mandarin, again the theory being there are so many people that speak it. third lesson tonight, its slow going, though i can already feel it getting easier! (ha, what an idiot i am, i'll get to class tonight and quickly be out of my depth!)

Ok, I'm descended from 'em.
You know when I saw Crash's answer I was about to pounce on him for it but then I thought 'Oh wait... It's better to sit back and watch Lithos take care of that one.'

That have to be some really weird reason indeed. If you ask me, the sound of it is rather commanding. It is a good language to write, as you can create your own word combinations ... but if it comes to talking ... well.
I would go for Francais or Espanol - depending on which is for more use to you. They are sort of related, so once you mastered one, it is rather easy to learn the other.
That said, I tried to learn French once ... as i wanted to take part at the GTR. Beside the fact that I was hopeless, recent events, made me change this plans. Mastering English is more important right now.
