The President of the United States has come out in favor of teaching Biblical creationism (masked as pseudo-scientific folderol) in public school science classes. This is a milestone in the ongoing, well-planned, concerted effort on the part of the Southern Christian bloc to grab an ever larger share of political power in the U.S. It is in the interest of anyone who opposes this power grab to educate themselves on this issue and join in the fray. This site is good:

I'm trying to imagine a future in which the Christian right wields absolute power. It just doesn't sound fun.

Your fellow WG admirer,

Slashdot points to an interesting related article rejecting Darwinism, by the Roman Catholic cardinal archbishop of Vienna.

Evolution is just not real; it can't happen; utterly ridiculous; I mean its great for SF stories and all; but the very notion, I mean come on, Giordano, antibiotic resistant bacteria; thats absolutely outrageous; How could a bacteria ever become resistant to an antibiotic? Where's the matches.

We all come from a mountain with seven wombs, on an island far to the north. We traveled south until we came to a cactus. On the cactus, a snake was eating a rattlesnake.

A wind turned all the people to monkies. Jaguars ate the next generation. Then it was water, and fire. I might be getting them out of order, here, but what's the point of that. Destruction is destruction, and next time it's earthquake. Give it a year or two or seven, you'll see. Who'll be laughing then?

Or, rather than imagine it, you could read The Handmaid's Tale. But you're correct, it isn't fun.

I've told that story to two people here at work, and will be sharing it with folks at dinner tonight. One of your best, colin.

This whole Neocon 'simple, easy to understand, totally wrong answers to complex problems' thing is getting pretty annoying. Fortunately, however...

I'm seriously pissed off to discover we're about to fight the same battle in this part of the world:

Creation crusade marches again, under a new banner.

"Its supporters here insists intelligent design is science-based. "That's the whole point," said Bill Hodgson, who heads Campus Crusade for Christ, which claims to have 130 staff. "This is not a religious question, and those who would seek to corral it off, really, they're just ideologically driven.""

Can you be sent to hell for lying?

I was touched by His Noodly Appendange.

Is it wrong to masticate? More to the point, is it wrong to eat your creator with a nice Chianti and a side of garlic bread?

"In the gravitons composing the vacuum potential, one photonic element is "time forward'' and one is ''time-reversed.'' These are phase conjugates. Thus, any pattern consistently happening to the species diffuses into the vacuum potential, where its oppositive or "negative feedback" component is automatically selected/created by phase conjugation".

"Fascinating", said the Vulcan science officer as the captain looked incredously at the cranky old man...
Sorry Carlos, this sounds straight out of one of those "Build your own anti gravity ship in 30 days" booklets. Smile

PS "Bush" and "Intelligent" in the same sentence. Amazing.
Keep going at it GW. In 20 years you will be touring the world as "The American Gorbachev" --See the guy who who brought the world's most powerful superpower down!!!

Jeez, RUR, you hit the nail on the head.

Before I even finished that first sentence I was thinking, "This sounds like that techno-babble they always use in STTNG".

HAH - the first thing I thought of was Liebniz's monad theory from the Baroque Trilogy.

But that's only because I am part of the way through the last book.

Take a closer look at the "technobabble" and its background. What is really being talked about is something called "optical phase reversal" or OPR, which was highly developed by the Soviets and weaponised, apart from anything else. The "Woodpecker" -- any radio ham from the 1970s (like myself) will remember the Soviet "Woodpecker" broadcasts that swamped the short-waves, and continue to this day on a spread-frequency basis ("zips" up and down the short-waves, audible at any time). Do YOU know what these broadcasts are for? The US military says it's "over the horizon radar"... which is like saying the G6 cannon is "a gun-sight"...

There's a true story about a Soviet physicist who came to the USA in the 1970s and gave an absolutely straightforward physics lecture on optical phase reversal. At the end of the lecture, US National Intelligence detained the entire audience, and swore them to secrecy about what they had just heard. And then they unscrewed the blackboard from the wall and removed it. Why? It's just about how you can use light to cancel light. But it opens up the whole "time-reversed" scenario, which incidentally was also put on the map by the American physicists John Wheeler and Richard Feynman.

If you're in any doubts about this, do some research on Vlail Kaznacheyev, doyen of Akademgorok in Siberia, who showed in over 40,000 published experiments how diseases could be transmitted by radio... he has since come out very strongly saying that scientists around the world should work to prevent this technology from being weaponised. Also check out the greatest of the lot, the late astrophysicist Kozyrev and his ideas on time, and you'll see... there's something behind all this... you can also check out a very interesting book called Entering the Circle by a Russian psychiatrist, Olga Kharatidi, who worked with Siberian shamans (like Kozyrev, when he was in the Gulag) and also physicists, and was put in a chamber called "Kozyrev's mirrors" which whip you out of time entirely. I've corresponded with a Scottish musician, Ken Hyder, who's been in that chamber. It's for real.

But to keep you happy, Kaznacheyev's outfit is now called the "Institute for Cosmic Anthropo-Ecology". Is that way enough out??
